My comment is about the case against Kendrick Demus. I do not see this case having to do with police brutality. However, I am discerning how much of this case has to do with systemic racism. I'm not convinced Mr. Demus deserves to spend the rest of his natural life in maximum security prison. Yet there is a fact to consider that he did not accept a plea deal. What really bothers me is that in the show it seemed to be, not necessarily from the show itself, much of the bitterness was directed towards Demus. Not nearly as much bitterness was reflected upon Mr. Carter. I do realize that Mr. Demus was the one who initiated the crime. But I almost wonder if the was a partnership between Demus and Carter except that Demus had a slight upper hand in that partnership. Certainly no threats were made against Carter if he did not cooperate. I guess that's just how it goes? Demus gets a much harsher sentence more because he rejected not one but two plea deals? Carter gets a lighter sentence possibly because he did accept the plea deal he was offered? A broken prison system requires much critical thinking. Black lives matter enough to me to go through that difficult process of critical thinking. I can no longer trust the system to deliver what it considers to be justice and simply accept the outcome. If Kendrick Carter is granted an appeal, I don't think that would be such a terrible thing. I do not see this man as monster.
